Just to clarify ... I was eating at Jiro Ginza last winter for almost exactly one hour and the cost was, if not mistaken, closed to JPY 30K for 20 pieces of nigiri sushi - Andi

My friend, who resides in Tokyo and is a regular at Sukiyabashi Jiro, last reported price as 25000 yen a head (this was two years ago though). 2008 Michelin guide reports in the range of 27000-32000 yen a head. I guess if you order enough additional pieces you can rack it up to 500 USD...The 45 minute meal time is pretty accurate though. The shortest meal time my friend had at Jiro was 20 pieces in half an hour.

Yeah, René told me his going to Manresa and I would SO much LOVE to experience that but unfortunately it's not possible for me. :-( Hope It will be stunning! Are you sometimes in NY? It's easier to get there for me, than to the west coast.
Spring next year. You'll have to let me know when!
